Continue reading our handy guide to porcelain veneers for more info, and then call or email us today to schedule your consultation.

What exactly are porcelain veneers?

Dental veneers are naturally tooth-colored shells that are placed on top of the visible surfaces of your front teeth. These are permanently bonded to the teeth, brightening their color and correcting their shape. These shells are stain resistant and durable, lasting anywhere from five to 10 years before they need to be replaced. In many cases, porcelain veneers are used as a more conservative treatment method than dental crowns, and can be used to strengthen and change the look of your teeth.

What dental issues will be fixed with porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are often used to correct a number of cosmetic dentistry issues, including:

    • Discolored teeth

    • Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth

    • Abnormal spacing between teeth

    • Uneven or misaligned teeth

    • Oddly or unusually shaped teeth

What does getting a porcelain veneer entail?

Your appointment will begin with a full dental examination to make sure that porcelain veneers will be a viable treatment option for you. Your dentist will take dental x-rays, and possibly impressions of the front teeth. Once your candidacy has been approved, your teeth will be prepared by removing a very small portion of your tooth enamel. A model of the teeth to be treated will then be made and sent to the dental laboratory where your customized porcelain veneers will be created. The veneers will be returned to our office in about two weeks, when they will be checked and adjusted for proper fit and finally affixed to your teeth using a permanent dental cement.
